“I will not quit until he is bankrupt and homeless”
They do not just want you out of their life, sometimes they want you erased from the memory of your children and the life of others! There is a type of heartbreak that comes with high conflict divorce that is hard to put into words. It is not just losing time with your kids, it’s watching the story you lived with them begin to vanish. Suddenly the language they say at your home after time away isn’t theirs anymore. The anger doesn’t quite sound like a child. it sounds like they are hearing this over and over again while away from you. It hurts in a way that’s hard to describe. The instinct is to defend yourself, to lay out the facts, to correct every wrong word. But pushing too hard can push them further away. Staying silent feels like surrendering your own history to the lies. Remember that you are fighting against something that has been in planning for many months or even years before it began. You cannot convince those involved because the war was alive and well before you even knew you were under attack and this they believe what they heard first. Sadly most will believe it and not even ask the other side. So how do you survive that? For me, it’s been faith. I can’t control what story someone else tells. I can’t force the truth on my timetable. I can only trust that it will be made right in the end cause I know the truth. in the meantime, I watch the hours, days and years slip buy and try to not be bitter. So I take it one day at a time. Loving my kids, showing up when I can, and trusting God with the rest. If you’re walking through something like this, please know you’re not alone. Your children don’t need a courtroom lawyer in the living room. They need your steadiness, your presence, your love. We can’t fix everything today, but we can show up in love today That is enough.
